Who We Are
Al-Basar International Foundation Trust
It was established in 1990 as a non-governmental charitable organization working for the control of blindness and blinding diseases.
Having its own comprehensive blindness control program, Al-Basar International Foundation works in three (3) aspects, namely:

Organizing quality controlled mobile out-reach program. ‘Free Eye Camps’ with the facilities of complete schedules of post-operative follow-up.

Operating self-sustainable charity eye hospitals, serving millions of people in Africa and Asia.

Establishment of ophthalmic institutes to train ophthalmic personnel and human resources.

Al-Basar International Foundation Trust
(Regional Office, Nigeria)
Al-Basar International Foundation Trust started its activities in Nigeria with an outreach program i.e. mobile eye surgical camp in 1994 and from that period to date foundation is providing eye care services. In August 2004, Al-Basar expanded its activities by the establishment of Makkah Specialist Eye Hospital in the northern commercial city of Kano.

In 2009, Al-Basar International Foundation achieved another milestone with the establishment of two specialist eye hospitals in Bauchi, northeastern region of Nigeria and Maradi in Niger Republic.

These hospitals provide all types of out and in-patients services to all patients.

Makkah Specialist Eye Hospital, Kano
The hospital is located at No. 5/12 B. U. K. Road (NNDC Quarters), Kano. It was established in 2004. The hospital is a world-class eye center, receiving about 300 patients and performing 25 various major surgical major operations per day. This is in addition to Laser procedures and minor surgeries.
The hospital is currently affiliated to Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH) for research and training in various fields of ophthalmology.
